Program Issues
Ok I'm not sure where this question should go. I just got a Toshiba Satellite laptop yesterday and everything worked fine. I put about 8 cd's or so on it and it worked fine. Earlier today I used windows media player for about an hour with no problems. A few hours ago my cousin downloaded and installed xvid codec I believe it was called (btw I'm not very computer savvy) and I guess something called blinkx beats was installed with it or something, maybe it was already on the computer. But anyway after that was downloaded I uninstalled both of them and I guess they both uninstalled fine. I then attempted to open internet explorer (I also have firefox) and it wouldn't even attempt to load. The hours glass would flash on the screen once and it would stop loading. I tried to uninstall internet explorer but I think I just deleted the shortcuts and now I can't find it. The same thing happened with windows media player, but I didn't try and uninstall it, I just left it alone. I even put a CD in the drive and it did nothing. I am running windows 7 and idk what to do. I also tried microsoft office starter which came with the computer and some of the windows live programs and they would not open either. I am not sure if it is a problem with the computer, windows 7 or the programs themselves, but they worked fine before. The computer I am using is a Toshiba Satellite L655-S1501.
Gaming headset recommendation please (Creative vs. Plantronics)
I'm looking at getting a headset, and I don't want to spend more than 50 bucks but I also don't want crap headphones.
2 headphones I saw that might fit my needs were the Plantronics Gamecom 367 and the Creative Fatal1ty (both are around 30 bucks from my local store).

Do you guys have any recommendation between these 2 or any advice? I'm using skullcandy ink'd earbuds right now and the quality is pretty nice for me so if its at least as good as these I should be happy.
Also what are your thoughts on usb versus analog connectors, the creative is usb while the gamecom is normal analog.

CPU Fan Failure
Not sure if this should be posted here or in the Dell Forum
I have a brand new Dell Studio XPS 7100, Windows 7 Home Premium (x64), 2.80 gigahertz AMD Phenom II X6 1055T, 4096 megabytes Usable Installed Memory, Board is a Dell OFF3FN A00 with bus clock of 200 megahertz.
On October 6 on start up the following message came up on the black screen: ?CPU fan failure ? Strike the F1 Key to Continue ? F2 to run the Set up Utility.? I immediately shut the computer off and contacted Dell via online chat on another computer. The technician had me remove the side of the tower and push the fan cables to be sure that they were tight. Then I put the side back on and rebooted the computer and there was no message about a fan failure. The technician?s response was: ?It seems the issue is intermittent but not to worry. Could be a minor glitch in the cable connection.?
On October 15 same black screen with same message. I clicked on the F1 key and after the computer booted up, I shut the computer down and rebooted with no problem.
On October 16 same black screen only this time I took the side panel off the tower to see if the CPU fan was working. All fans appeared to be working as they are supposed to. Then I clicked the F1 key and the computer booted up and periodically I would check to seen of the CPU fan was going and it always was.
Today, October 17 same message on start up.
Suggestions as to what I should do about this problem.
Also on another computer which has an Intel board and CPU, I have software called Intel Active Monitor which among other things gives me the temperature and fan speed. Is there similar software for AMD?

Noisy/Loud Blu-Ray Drive! Dv6tSE
Hey guys,
I got my Dv6tSE a few days ago! Its been working well except for a resent hiccup. I've been ripping some music into itunes. Just a few cds at a time and I noticed with a piticular cd the blu-ray drive got very noisy and started clicking during the rip! It definatly concerned me and happened only with that paticular disc. DVDs work fine, it only seems to happen when the drive reaches a high RPM. Is this a common issue with the blu-ray drives on these notebooks? If there is a actuall hardware fault id like to take care of it under warranty!

VRAM cooling using paste ???
I didn't order enough thermal pads and since i can't order more, i wonder if we can apply thermal paste on the VRAMs ??? Assuming the paste is non-conductive like this one ???
