Wireless broadband drain

Does anyone have a solution to the very noticeable drain (particularly with streaming video) of broadband signal to wired computers by wireless routers? The drain may actually be evenly divided, but streaming on my iPad doesn't seem to be affected. I'm using a NETGEAR WGR614v10 router.

Could use a smaller image and be less a drain. So far the fix is to get a higher speed internet connection.
